QUESTION:
Did Bro. Branham think Jesus was God?

ANSWER:
“Oh, my. That's it. "I am the Resurrection and Life. He that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. Whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die. Believest thou this?" She said, "Yea, Lord. I believe..." Look here. "I believe that You are the Son of God, that You've been said to be that was to come into the world. I believe what You said You was. What God has done for You, that's the truth. I believe every Word of it." "Where have you buried Him?" Oh, my. Here's where a woman told me not long ago, when I was... She said, "Jesus wasn't the... divine." Said, "He was a good man, a good teacher, so forth, be good for people to live by that. Just like with Santa Claus, stories for the children. But," said, "he wasn't divine." I said, "Oh, yes He was Divine." Said, "No, he wasn't." I said, "He was." She said, "Look, I can prove it. When He went down to the grave of Lazarus, He cried like a man." I said, "Yes. I believe He was more than a man. I believe He was a God-man. I believe that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself. I believe God lived in His son, dwelled in His Son, and reconciled the world to Himself by His Son." Do you believe that? I do with all my heart. And He was more than a man. He was God the... God the Son here on earth. Everything the Father had was in Him then. And I believe that He was more than a man, He was a God-man. And when He went down to the--to the grave, He cried like a man. That's true. But when He stood there, held Himself and said, told them to take away the stone, said, 'Lazarus, come forth.' When He raised the dead, He was more than a man. He was God. He was a man when He was crying, but He was God when He raised the dead. That's right. Yes, sir, He was Divine.” [Believest Thou This Minneapolis, MN 50-0716]
“A woman said to me here not long ago, said, "Brother Branham," said, "He was a good man, but He wasn't Divine. He was just like an ordinary man." I said, "Oh, yes He was Divine. He was Divine." Said, "He was a good man, but he wasn't Divine." I said, "Yes He was." "I'll tell you what." She said, "Here's the reason He wasn't." Said, "When he went down to the grave of Lazarus, it proved that he wasn't Divine because he went to crying. And that showed that he was a man. The Bible said, 'Jesus wept.'" I said, "Look, lady. He might've been a man when He was weeping, but when He said, 'Lazarus, come forth,' and a man that had... [Blank.spot.on.tape--Ed.]... returned back that had been dead four days... [Blank.spot.on.tape--Ed.] and Christ reconciling the world to Himself. He was more than a man; He was a God-man. He was God in that man. He was personifying Himself here in His Son: God was, Himself, in Him. It's God, dwelling. Look at Him. He was a man truly when he was crying, He was a man. But when He raised the dead, He was God.” [The Resurrection Of Lazarus Cleveland, OH 50-0813A]

“He was a God-man. I believe He was the--the infinite Son of God, borned of the virgin Mary. That's right. Everything the Bible said He was, I believe He was. When He was on earth, He looked like God; He talked like God; He--He preached like God; He rose like God; He ascended like God. He, God was in Him, God manifested here in a body of flesh on the earth in a form, His Son, Christ Jesus. Notice. God was in His Son. He was always... God deals back there in the beginning. When He was with the Israelites, coming through the wilderness, there was a rock going along there, following them, a spiritual rock. And God told Moses, "Smite the rock, and it'll bring forth water." What was it? He smote it with the rod that was in his hand. That rod wasn't Moses' rod; that was God's rod, the judgment. And he smote the rock, and the rock brought forth water.” [Show Us The Father And It Suffices Cleveland OH 50-0819]

QUESTION:
I am really worried about such things as hugs, is it right for a Christian brother to hug a Christian sister? Because it seems that we might take such things lightly yet it later may create an opening for the devil.

ANSWER:
“Now, I do realize this is a mixed audience, and I say this with the sweetness and with the mellowness of the Spirit. Men cannot put your arm around women without a human sensation. But it wasn't there. There was no yesterday nor tomorrow.

They didn't get tired. They were... I never seen such pretty women in all my life. They had hair way down to their waistline, long skirts to their feet, and they were just a hugging me.It wasn't a hug like even my own sister setting there would hug me. They were not kissing me, and I was not kissing them. It was something that I--I have not got the--the vocabulary; I haven't got the words to say. Perfection wouldn't touch it. Superb wouldn't even touch it nowhere. It was something that I never... You just have to be there.” [The Rejected King Jeff. IN V-2 N-23 60-0515M]

“Now look, I've... When I was a sinner, I never run around. I wasn't ornery to run around with women. And I don't care how saintly a man tries to live and how godly he lives, if a woman puts her arms around a man, it's a human sensation. Now, you just might as well... I don't care, you can call yourself sanctified (and I believe in sanctification too), but you're still a human. Just exactly right. And there's a sensation. I don't say you'd do wrong, certainly not. The power of God keeps you, and you go on. But even in that place, that human sensation wasn't there. And here come people just throwing their arms around, saying, "My precious brother." All them women had long hair, white garments, bare-footed. They were young, about... Looks to be about eighteen years old, twenty. I... They'd grab me and throw their arms around me, and say, "Oh, our precious brother," and just hug me like that, and walk away. And somebody else...I seen my first wife come up. Now, she died when she was about twenty-two; she hadn't changed. She come running. I said, "Surely, she'll call me husband." And she walked up, and she begin smiling, threw her arms around me. She said, "My darling brother." And then she hugged some woman that had just hugged me, some girl.” [Having Conferences Chautauqua, OH 60-0608]

“Now, forgive me, sisters, as I say this, 'cause... But you listen to your doctor; and if we ain't got clean minds, then we're not Christians. I don't care... I've always lived clean; God knows that. When I was a little boy, the Angel of the Lord told me to not defile my body, smoke, or drink, and that's been truth. By the grace of God, I've kept that. When I was a sinner, I didn't run around with women. And so... But any man that lets a woman hug up into his arms (him being made up of cells of male and her a female), there's a sensation. I don't care who you are; now, don't tell me you're not if you're healthy as a person. But not there, because you don't have any more different cells. You'll never sin there. There was a change. There's no more than just a brotherly love to them women.” [The Fifth Seal Jeff. IN 63-0322]

“Now look, God knows when I was a boy... You read my story. When I was seven years old, the Angel of the Lord met me as a whirlwind in that bush that day and said, "Don't never smoke, drink, or defile your body." I never smoked in my life, never drank in my life, and I've got... I know no woman but my wife. And so then, I didn't live immoral when I was a sinner. And... But I... Since I've been a Christian, I've tried to live as straight as I know how to live, and God knows that's the truth. And--and let me say this: I don't care how saintly a man is, as long as he's human, he cannot take the other sex in his arm (a female) without having a human sensation. And I don't care; you tell me that, and I'll tell you you're telling a story. That's... If you're a red blooded man, if you're really a--a man, it's that way; you can't help it. You're a human. I don't say you'd do anything wrong, now; but the sensation's there just exactly the same. But in this, it was gone. Praise be to God, it was gone. It was like... like not... when I take my own sister, Delores, in my arms. It wasn't like a mother taking her baby. I--I don't know. It was perfect.” [From That Time Klamath Falls, OR 60-0716]

“I looked around, and then all the hard nights, the trials, passed away, when I could see their faces. A young woman went up there, one of the most beautiful women, and she just threw her arms around me, and said, "Precious Brother." And when she passed by... Now, she was a woman. So... But in there, there'll never be sin. See, our glands are changed there. They won't raise children no more, there. See? See, all the same. What makes the difference, the sensation. That's the reason I don't believe in dancing on the floor. No man... I, before God and my Bible, I've lived clean, as that way through my life when I was a little boy, all through my young manhood. Any girl I ever went out with, I can walk right back to the Judgment with her. See? But there's no man, I don't care who you are, can let a woman (in the make of a woman) hug herself up close to you; if you're a true healthy man, there's a sensation. But it wasn't there; there's no glands. They're all the same gland. See? Just pure, unadulterated sisterly and brotherly love, more than it would be for your... even for your... hug your own little daughter. See? Your own daughter, yet she's made... she's female and you're a male. See, it could create something; but There it can't, sin is done, it's all over. See? Real...just real, holy Love.” [God's Only Provided Place Of Worship Shp. LA V-7 N-4 65-1128M]
